This heavyweight, textured paper is handmade in Anhui Province of China.  It is made with traditional, soft  "xuan" fiber and dyed with all natural dyes.  The leaves are leftover from the different plants the papermaker uses for dyes and embedding.  In this case the leaves are used for embossing surface pattern, by sandwiching leaves in between damp sheets, when the "post" (or stack) of damp paper is being pressed.
