Lokta Papers -One-Color Nepali Papers
Lokta paper is prepared in the age old technique of traditional Nepalese artistry. It is prepared from the fibrous bark of the Daphne Cannabina which grows at high altitudes in the Himalayas. Lokta paper is strong and impervious to insects.
These papers are handmade and hand-dyed in Nepal and are subject to slight variation in color and thickness making each piece unique.
There are 45 solid colors and embedded papers plus dozens of images of Lokta woodblocks of animals, symbols, flowers, etc.
The Nepali people must face the long hurdle of rebuilding after the earthquake of last spring.
